What We Do.

The SisterGirl Collective is the passion project of educators and mental health professionals recognizing the toll that being Black in predominantly White independent schools can take on the fragile self-esteem, confidence, and spirit of our Black girls. Bearing witness to and personally navigating elite spaces where inherent systemic racism is a chronic threat, our team seeks to create a circle of support, a safety net, and a toolbox for success.

 

Our paths crossed in our work in independent schools in Washington, DC. Our bond grew over diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and our commitment grew through workshop presentations, project collaboration, and a personal commitment to Black girls in our professional spaces. We believe in the power of strength in numbers, the impact of our collective efforts, and the magic of the Black girl. We are your people and this is our passion.
